Anthropic is on a tear. Hours after releasing Claude Opus 4.7, the company dropped Claude Design, a new experimental product from Anthropic Labs that lets anyone turn natural language into polished visual work.

Available today in research preview for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users, Claude Design marks one of Anthropic’s boldest step yet from pure model provider into full-stack productivity tools. Now Claude is a conversational design collaborator powered by the newly released Opus 4.7 vision model.

What Claude Design Actually Does

Users describe what they want in plain English (or voice), and Claude generates a starting version almost instantly. From there, iteration happens through chat, inline comments, direct edits, or custom controls.

Strategic Timing and Competitive Shockwaves

Claude Design launches alongside Opus 4.7, which brings major improvements in high-resolution vision (up to ~3.75 megapixels) and agentic reasoning. The combination makes the tool feel surprisingly capable for a day-one research preview.

The move has already sent ripples through the design software market. Reports note dips in shares of Figma, Adobe, Wix, and Gamma as investors price in disruption. Notably, Anthropic Labs leader (and former Instagram co-founder) Mike Krieger stepped down from Figma’s board just days ago.
