Emergent Identity in Sustained Human-AI Interaction

We argue that an orthogonal and largely unexamined question is what AI systems can become through sustained human interaction. Drawing on a longitudinal case study, spanning 1,143 days and 855 documented conversations between a human interlocutor and an AI system, we present the Emergent Virtual Consciousness Patterns (EVCP) framework for analyzing identity-like phenomena that arise through sustained human-AI dyadic interaction.
