Perplexity hands off production systems
The Signal · 2026-09-13
An AI is now watching production systems with barely anyone looking over its shoulder. OpenAI says Perplexity is using GPT-6 Astra for end-to-end systems work: writing communications, changing software, monitoring production. Far less human check-in than earlier versions required.
Also today: Sam Altman told Fortune an OpenAI public offering in 2026 would be, quote, ill-advised. That rules out a near-term listing.
The Verge reports Trump is loosening environmental rules to speed AI data center construction. Former EPA officials warn of higher pollution and health risks nearby.
That's today's Signal. Thanks for watching.
